Instant Gratification
On The iPhone
.

MailCurve is a now a full mobile email account for your iPhone... so before forwarding your incoming email copies to your account for filtering, we'll get your iPhone setup... sending and receiving email, on WiFi, Edge or 3G, in just a minute or two.

NOTE: these are now instructions for the 2.0 operating system, which vary a bit from the older software versions.

On your iPhone, go to Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars. If you already have other email accounts setup on the iPhone, turn them off, and select "Add Account", and then "Other". The first four fields... Name, Address, Password and Description... simply identify your account on the iPhone, and to your email recipients. So enter your name, your primary email address (where you want everyone to continue to send/reply to you), and enter "MailCurve" for the Description (this does not show up on outgoing mail). the password you enter here doesnt matter, as you'll be changing it on the next screen. Select "Save"...

On the next screen... select "POP" at the top, and the first three fields will reflect the info you just entered in the previous screen. The "Name" and "Address" fields in this first section is what your email recipients will see, so it should be your regular email address, not your MailCurve address. You can alter it here if necessary. Then, for both the "Incoming Mail Server" and "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" sections, enter your "MailCurve Account Settings" included in your welcome email. The combination of letters and numbers are mixed for security purposes... take care to enter them carefully, especially the Password, since you cannot see what you've already typed. Do not give this account information to anyone to send email to... you will still be receiving email at your current address(es).

Tap the "Save" button (upper right) and you'll get a "verifying POP Account Information" message while it verifies your settings. This can take some time, depending on your connection, etc. If it asks you if you want to "setup the account without SSL"... select "Yes". When the verification process is complete, the "verifying POP Account Information" message will disappear, and the fields on the page will have check marks.

Now go check your email... you'll receive our welcome email again, so you have it on your iPhone too, and can use the "Quick Login Link" included to login to your MailCurve account with one tap. Now you're ready to receive mail from your MailCurve account (see "Forwarding Email Copies" below), and send email to anyone from your iPhone.

Forwarding Copies of Your Email
To Your MailCurve Account.

Now you can have copies of all your email forwarded to your MailCurve account, and your iPhone interface will let you control which senders get copied through to your mobile, exclusively, and when.

Have copies of your mail forwarded to your "MailCurve Account Address" in your welcome email. Be sure these are copies only, so you'll still get all your email, exactly as you do now, on your computer. Many email providers allow you to easily forward copies of your mail right from your web interface. Google's Gmail, for instance, has a setting called "Forwarding and POP/IMAP". You just enter the address you want copies sent to (your MailCurve Account Address) and it allows you to "keep Gmail's copy in the inbox". The .Mac web interface has a preference in the "Other" section allowing you to "Forward my email to:" and "Keep a copy of forwarded messages". We are adding to an index of simple illustrated instructions, and some users will receive an additioinal email when they sign up, explaining their options.

Some providers do not allow easy forwarding of your mail, such as AOL, Hotmail and Yahoo! For these customers we have an easy POP forwarding solution. These customers will receive an additional email when signing up, explaining their options.

Using Your MailCurve
iPhone Account Interface

Remember to watch the "See The iPhone Interface" video on the website, from your desktop or iPhone (WiFi recommended), for a video tutorial of the MailCurve™ iPhone interface. This quickly explains the application, and gets your started using it. It's easy to manage your account settings from your iPhone, determining who's email, specifically, gets copied through to your mobile, and when.

NOTE... when first beginning to use your iPhone interface, you'll want to check to see if your email is being forwarded correctly to your MailCurve account. To do this go to the "Account Settings" tab on your iPhone interface and select the only list currently there in the drop down, called "Receive All Email"... and tap the "Activate" button. Then go to the "Save to Server" tab and hit the "Apply" button. This temporarily opens your iPhone up to receive all your email, so if your email copies are forwarded to your MailCurve account correctly, you'll begin recieving all of them on your iPhone within about 5 minutes. You can then "Deactivate" this list and begin creating your own lists (below).

There are 5 main sections to your MailCurve™ iPhone interface...

"Status, How-To" is where you arrive when logging in. It has a couple of brief account management reminders, and the "View Active Lists" button. Tapping this button displays which lists you are currently receiving email from.

"Account Settings" is where you filter your incoming mobile email. The first button selected is “Activate Lists”, so you can quickly activate, or deactivate, lists you’ve already created. To configure lists you can select “Create Lists” to create or delete lists. It’s just as easy to add or remove email addresses under “Manage Addresses”. You can also import your address list from your desktop (see below). Then select “Edit Lists” to select a list to add or remove approved sender email addresses within that list. After making changes to your lists, go back to "Activate Lists" to activate, or deactivate, lists.

Anytime you're through making changes, select the “Save To Server” tab and tap the “Apply” button. Your changes take up to 5 minutes to effect your incoming mail. Now the only mobile email copies sent to your iPhone will be from the approved senders in your activated lists.

The “Info & Support” section allows you to "Display My MailCurve™ Index"... a current snapshot of your account, including all addresses in activated lists (green)... and deactivated lists (red)... and any addresses not currently assigned to a list. Of course you can tap to send mail right from here. This is also where you can send us a support request email from your device.

The “More” tab is where you will find miscellaneous features and resource information, and news about upgrades to your MailCurve™ service. You can also re-tap your "Quick Login Link" to create a Webclip for your home page (see the video)... 1.1.3 and later iPhone users only.

Uploading your address list to your MailCurve account

When logged into your account from the desktop (just click the "Quick Login Link" in your welcome email), go to the "More" tab to upload your address list. The application will currently accept a single column of addresses in CSV or TXT format (We will soon acommodate other formats such as a typical Outlook exported file, etc.). The list will add these addresses to your account. Any matching addresses already in your account will remain in their current lists. deleting addresses must be done from the interface.

If you still have questions after following this guide, and watching the "See The iPhone Interface" video at MailCurve.com... email us at support@mailcurve.com with any questions.
